GENERAL DEscriptION
The SGM8714A-1 and SGM8714B-1 are single-channel, low voltage, nano power comparators. These devices are available in an ultra-small (1mm × 1mm) leadless package, making them suitable for space-critical applications, such as smartphones, smart meters and other battery-powered applications.
The SGM8714A-1 and SGM8714B-1 have an excellent trade-off between speed and power, where the propagation delay is 6μs and the supply current is only 300nA. The benefit of fast response time at nano power is to monitor system continuously and respond to fault conditions without too much battery power dissipation. Due to wide operating voltage range of 1.6V to 5.5V and nanoampere level current, these comparators are popular in battery-powered systems.
The SGM8714A-1 has a push-pull output stage capable of sinking and sourcing milliamps of current when driving an LED, a resistor or a capacitive load. The SGM8714B-1 has an open-drain output stage that can be pulled beyond VS, making it suitable for level translators and bipolar to single-ended converters.
